After graduation, Garner moved to Port Lavaca to start a 37-year law career. He also served as Director of the State Bar and was Director and Chairman of the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, among numerous other
distinctions.
He was married 44 years to Judith Parks Garner and had two daughters: Teresa Garner Eyster and Tamara Annette Garner. Mr. Garner is also survived by his brother, James H. Garner, and two nieces, Angela L. Garner and Stephanie Garner-Pounds.
He passed away July 3, 2002 in Houston and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
