Are You Interested in Co-Sponsoring the Tritico Rainey Happy Hour and Reception?
For the past several years, the Tritico Rainey Happy Hour and Reception has been one of the most popular events of the retreat. This casual event serves as a fun opening to the retreat and is frequently the first opportunity for colleagues within the section to welcome each other and catch up before the conference portion begins.
Over the years, various organizations within the section have expressed interest in co-sponsoring the happy hour and reception. Chris Tritico has garnered a significant amount of goodwill by virtue of having sponsored this event throughout the years, and we can’t thank him enough for that. However, in order to give all section members access to the networking and marketing opportunities presented by sponsoring this event, the section is offering all members an opportunity to serve as co-sponsor with Tritico Rainey at this year’s retreat.
The happy hour and reception will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio. If your organization is interested in co-sponsoring this event, please contact Chris Tritico at (713) 581-3399.
Kelly Frels Lifetime Achievement Award:
The Kelly Frels Lifetime Achievement Award is presented during the retreat to a current or former section member who has made outstanding contributions to school law and the school law community. The purpose of the award is to acknowledge a current or former member who has made outstanding contributions to school law jurisprudence on the state and/or federal level, has been a recognized leader in this section and the school law community generally, has demonstrated the highest standards of ethical behavior, and has demonstrated a high level of collegiality and professionalism in dealing with other members of the section while zealously representing his or her client(s).
If you wish to nominate someone for the Kelly Frels Lifetime Achievement Award, you can do so by submitting the nomination to Julie Leahy. The award recipient will be chosen by a selection committee that consists of the three most immediate past chairs of the section and the three most immediate past recipients of the award. Nominations are due to me no later than April 15, 2018.
Leticia McGowan and Paige Williams are the newsletter co-editors. The newsletter is a valuable resource for section members. Please contact them if you have an article or any ideas for future articles or information to distribute to the section.
